or
b) He has the appropriate written weight certification, witnessed by an official and opposing coach, at any sanctioned match, during the normal weigh-in of a “League” December meet, that his stripped body weight qualified him for this weight class.
c) Copies of the weight certifications MUST be mailed to your division statistician along with your match results for that week.
2. One weight class above his stripped body weight.
3. If a boy did not wrestle in a December dual meet, he shall be granted the appropriate weight allowance(s), for the month, when he wrestles in his first dual meet or tournament.
Parent's Responsibility
Parents are responsible to keep track of their child’s weight and what weight class to certify him/her in. Certification is a method to guarantee your child will wrestle in the lightest weight class his stripped body weight will permit before December 31st. An example would be that if your child weighs 48lbs but is wrestling 52lbs, he should be certified at the 48lb weight class. Coaches will provide direction as requested. This will enable your child to take advantage of the 1 pound per month weight allowances that occur in January and February. Coaches will do their best to keep your child in the proper weight class and determine certification needs, but the ultimate responsibility lies with the parents.
East Penn League rules requires that every child must wrestle at the weight class where he/she has wrestled at least 50% of his individual varsity matches. If he has no varsity matches or has wrestled both varsity and junior varsity matches he must wrestle at the weight class in which he has wrestled at least 50% of his individual varsity and junior varsity matches combined.
East Penn League Rules requires that if a majority (>50%) of any wrestler’s matches take place at the varsity level, he is committed to wrestle in the varsity tournament. Please note it is possible to lock more than one wrestler into a single weight class. The problem with this is that if any wrestler becomes locked into a varsity position he would not be able to take part in the junior varsity or exhibition tournament.
We will keep track of this as a team, but each parent also must keep track of their child’s points so that every Solehi wrestler will be able to take part in one of the three tournaments at the end of the year. To the best of our knowledge this has never occurred on our team, it has however happened on several teams in the league and the young wrestler would be very disappointed at the end of the year if he could not take part in the season ending championship tournaments.
As stated before, our team is committed to seat a varsity wrestler in each weight class before we can seat any wrestler in other tournaments. Again this year is separate tourneys for junior varsity and exhibition wrestlers. We are assuming that the same rule will also apply for the junior varsity tournaments when seating for the exhibition tourney
